Introduction

Animal experimentation is the use of animals in biomedical, psychology, or any other research. It is suppose to benefit humans. Sometimes it does while other times it does not. Thanks to animal experimentation vaccines for diseases such as polio have been discovered. A lot of new surgical procedures first get tested on animals before they get tested on humans. Al most all the products that we use everyday have to be first tested on animals. Everything from the shampoo that we use on our hair to the white out we use to fix our mistakes has to be first tested on an animals.

The animal experimentation process usually begins with mice or rats. These animals are used first for several reason including that they reproduce quickly and in large numbers, they are cheap to care for, and it does not require a lot of space to house them. After the rat or mice the process continues on to another small rodent usually a guinea pig. Then a bigger animal is used. Usually it is a cat or a dog or any other larger animal. After that an ape like a monkey is used before it is finally tested on humans.
